becoming a writer
I had started building a writing practice in the late winter and early spring. At the time, this practice mostly consisted of writing small notes about the books I was reading, as well as entries in my ongoing hypersigil work. But as I began to apply the hypersigil to more focused goals- my practice began to evolve.
I started by performing a small ceremony to Mercury. I offered incesnse of sandalwood, and invoked the spirit of Mercury- Ophiel. I declared my intention to write a consistent newsletter wherein I could explore various magical theories and topics– and I asked for Ophiel to grant my clarity, inspiration, and motivation to perform this writing.
The ceremony ended simply but I felt as if a wave of light, static washed over me, confirming that the mercurial spirit was there to help.
Soon after- I began to write with a ferocity I hadn’t had since I was in my early 20s. The words flowed and I was filled with imagination.
Every morning, after my prayer and meditation, I would sit down with a cup of coffee and begin to write. I wound up producing an incredible amount of work- both newsletters, video scripts, and notes that were created in the process of researching the newsletter.
This large body of writing would become invaluable as I began to move towards writing books- but most of all the experience I gained from producing and finishing articles was vital to my future work.
