A Beginner's Guide to Astral Travel

I typically like to travel in an old mid century style arm chair. I think it came from ikea once upon a time- it was given to me by an old friend. I naturally find myself getting tired in the afternoons, so during this time I will lay down or recline in a darkened room and begin breathing deeply. Slow regular breaths help me relax. Then I simply just pay attention while I am falling asleep. This took me the longest to learn but it is like riding a bike- there is a ‘trick’ to it and when you get it- it becomes novice to perform. I remember when I first did it it happened almost by accident. I was laying in bed and drifting off to sleep- I began to notice that a dream was forming around me and in that instant I somehow managed to remain calm and relaxed. It allowed me to enter into the dream fully lucid. From then on I have been able to simply notice myself falling asleep.

As soon as I notice myself about to slide into a dream, I gently pull up on the controls and guide my mind towards a door. Any door works, but to me it usually appears a red door. On this door I can imagine a sigil or a number or even a picture- anything that represents where I want to go, and when the door appears to me clearly- I open it and step through.

Usually what I will see appears as a soft cloud of sparkling colors- like space dust, undulating around me. When it begins to form into a shape it often starts to take on the form of a tarot card or popup book- like flat images that dance in front of me.

But there is so much more out in that darkly splendid world. There are other travelers too. Other societies. Other worlds entirely. It was when I was exploring one of these worlds that I was first contacted by Them. They who wish to build something entirely new.
