The red balloon

Zeus pulled his scarf tighter around his neck against the wind as he walked toward the cafe. It was a sunny chicago day, but it was still cold. As he approached the cafe he looked up and saw a single red balloon floating up into the fluffy white clouds above. As he watched it float up and up and up he suddenly realized he was entering into the drift. The state between realities where all time was flexible and the world was rearranging.

“What am I looking for?” He asked to no one.

He knew this was a sign of something coming- but what. His mind raced back to the past entries he made in the hypersigil. As he turned back to the sidewalk- there was suddenly a woman standing in front of him checking her phone. The two almost collided and as she looked up from her phone they made eye contact– and for them both it felt like a lightening bolt exploding in their heads.

“oh excuse me!” Zeus said- still reeling from the shock. ‘what was that?’ he thought to himself. Writing it off as just a moment of connection with a beautiful girl. But he couldn’t shake the intense feeling of magnetism and turned back around almost at the same time as she did. She was the first one to speak: “Uhm- excuse me- but do I know you…? You seem really familiar to me.”

“I don’t think so- but yeah- you seem really familiar to me too! so wild that you feel the same- haha!”

“Yeah definitely- must be some karma or something”

“for real- a pastlife connection. I’m Zeus by the way” he said reaching out his hand. She took it gently

“Rose! it’s a pleasure- are you from here?”

“No I just moved here in August actually!”

“Oh my god me too that is so weird!”

“Yeah it really is! Uhm I actually am on my way to lunch but I guess since we are soulmates we should probably get each others numbers?”

Completely unphased by what Zeus just said, “Yeah I guess we should”

The two traded numbers both with slightly dazed goofy smiles on their faces. And parted ways- Zeus leaving with a belly full of butterflies and excitement and almost a sense of knowing that he had just met the woman he would soon fall madly in love with.
